Recently restored in the workshop and now offered for sale is MGTD chassis number 8935. Built in July 1951 with left hand drive for the United States it returned to the UK in 1991 and was partially restored with a new body tub and mechanical work.
The owner was unable to complete the work needed and it arrived at Westerham in June 2006 where we set about a painstaking chassis up restoration.
It would be easier to list what was not done, as all the brake hydraulics have been renewed, new wiring loom installed, radiator recored, windscreen pillars and surround rechromed along with the headlight bowls radiator shell and other fittings. The instruments have been rebuilt and placed in the new covered dashboard.
New leather seats and trim were obtained from our friends in the North as was the tan duck hood and side screen covers. New running boards and petrol tank replaced the original tired items. Turn signals were installed using original Lucas lamp holders. The car has been finished in Woodland Green GN29 cellulose. And, of course it has a tar top battery. We kept the car as a left hand drive because it is just the motor to cruise along the Corniche and will be happy to help with an export to southern Europe.
