When delivered to te workshop we gave it a thorough examination. Like the 'curates egg' it was good in parts. Tony, a colleague and MOT tester, who had been working on a MKii recommended that we replace the jacking points which were badly corroded. All the wheel arches needed replacing and the front crossmember had been subjected to some very creative bodging. Although it looks all right in the picture the nose above the indicator light was paper thin and will be replaced with parts from a long defunct car.
Using a chassis roller from CJ Autos we have been able to tip it on the side which makes it a lot easier to work on the undersides.
The seats have been taken ut and Connollised by Cass Bros and the wood taken out and carefully cleaned ready to be varnished. The wheel arches and noses were corroded and so we acquired two fronts as well as wheel arch repairs and clamped and fettled them together, taking time to get it rightm and then Andy welded it all together. After kleading and filling even its mother could not see the joins
The work will continues for some time and this blog will be updated.
